The General Directorate for Natural Environment is part of the Regional Ministry for Industry and Environment of Murcia Region. It is the administrative body in charge of all aspects above conservation and protection of nature and the natural resources on the Region of Murcia. One of its main priorities is the fight against the desertification in order to develop actions which reduce, as far as possible, the processes of erosion in an especially significant environment, characterized by the deficit water and of intense heat.

The administrative unit of the General Directorate for Natural Environment in charge of technical and administrative execution of Desertnet 2 project is the Service for Environmental Information and Integration, which has a great experience in coordination and management of environmental activities financed by European programs.

Actions foreseen in the frame of the project 

The actions of the project are concluded by the General Directorate for Natural Environment, in close cooperation with a group of researchers of the Department of Agricultural Chemistry, Geology and Soils of the University of Murcia, whose participation is regulated in the Agreement subscribed between both institutions. Currently, the following actions are been developed: 

- Development of a card controls which includes information necessary for cartography MEDALUS. 
- Sampling and harvest given basic, analytical determinations and statistical studies. 
- Incorporation with cartography MEDALUS of the indicators of chemical degradation obtained and proposed in DESERTNET 1. 
- Representation in GIS format.
- Starting of the Operating platform and reversed results.
