“Good practices” database against desertification is available on-line through the web-link: www.buone_pratiche.sinanet.apat.it/login.php
In the context of desertification could be consider “good”, those operational practices , experiences, field activities, experimental studies or projects oriented to enhance land sustainable management mainly in three main sectors, for example: Agriculture (choice agricultural land, soil management, crops rotation, crops management, ecc); Forest (minimize environmental damage to the site, protect forest components including species diversity, encourage sustainable forest management, should be consistent with longterm forest management planning, ecc.); Water (Ferti-irrigation, optimisation of available water - water stress control -, ecc.) Database creation is a tool to share and reveal sustainable experiences, just realized or in course, financed by national and/or European Commission projects to combat desertification. The “good practices” are examples of positive field activities characterized by some main requirements: Measurable (possibility to quantify the results of the work/action/project through indicators) Innovability (capability to produce new or forefront solutions) Sustainability (protection and/or restoration of ecosystem through the improvement of environmental management) Riproducibility (possibility to transfer or apply the experience in different area and/or situation) Inside the database each user, upon registration, could insert own project filling at least the obligatory fields. |
